Trio Virado is a fresh new collaboration of three of the most distinguished artists on their instruments of flute, viola and guitar. Amy Porter, Juan-Miguel Hernandez and João Luiz are artists widely sought after for their musical performances on recordings and the concert stage. Joining together, they form a concert trio experience with emotion and love of music that radiates electricity. This unique blend of artists are performing music composed especially for them by some of the world's leading composers and bringing more traditional Brazilian music like Astor Piazolla to their group's repertoire. Popular among flutists around the world, Amy Porter's recordings have been called "A must buy" by American Record Guide. She has performed with orchestras and in recital across the U.S. and abroad, and has been acclaimed for her moving and charismatic performances. Ms.Porter is much sought after for her teaching and masterclasses based on her versatility as a musician. She is a well-published Professor at the University of Michigan, and produces a broad array of media including DVD study guides, CDs and sheet music arrangements. As a founding member of the Harlem Quartet, with whom he performed from 2006 until 2012, violist Juan-Miguel Hernandez has appeared with the Atlanta, Seattle, Colorado Symphonies, as well as the Rochester Philharmonic and the Chicago Sinfonietta. Performances in recent seasons have brought Juan-Miguel on tour throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South America, Canada and the United States. In 2009 he was the grand-prize winner of the Brahms International Viola Competition. As a member of the Brasil Guitar Duo, Joao Luiz has a full global touring schedule and numerous critically acclaimed recordings. As a performer and composer Joao is equally at home with classical, Brazilian and world music; his solo guitar and guitar ensemble repertoire cover all the main works in the guitar literature from Dowland to Carter and Brazilian rhythms from choro to baião.
