Once opened the whole unit is wrapped in a plastic sleeve and held between bespoke polystyrene. On the top you have an instruction manual and small recipe booklet. Everything is well packed and presented. First impressions: this has a nice minimal design with a LED screen display and three buttons controlling the power, mode select, and start/stop. The LED screen is small but very clear and easy to read. The motor connected to the transparent lid and mixing blade all remove as a single unit, but both the lid and blade detach simply for cleaning. The whole unit in my opinion is quite heavy with an overall minimal but nice clean look. After unpacking and washing the removable parts I had a good read through the instructions. The manual is all in English, and I found it easy to follow with linked diagrams for good identification. The recipe booklet is fairly brief covering only three ice creams, a sorbet, and a frozen yogurt, although in my opinion a good start for someone who has never made ice cream before. I decided to try this out with Ube Ice Cream (Purple Yam Ice Cream) as it is one I have made before, and also one of my wife’s favourites. I did initially make the mistake of closing the lid in the wrong position which resulted in the machine bleeping and mixing motor not turning, but removing and replacing in the correct position started the process without issue. I found the ice cream turned out perfectly and ready to eat depending on your preference, it might have been a little too soft for some, but after sitting in the freezer for 30-40 minutes it firms up to a more solid consistency. I tried out making a Mango ice cream which also turned out really well, and the children loved it I went on to try an orange sorbet following the recipe instructions for lemon sorbet but substituting lemon for orange, and that turned out very nicely. I tried a frozen yogurt which worked well, and although not my preference my wife enjoyed it. Overall in my opinion this is a simple machine that performs its task really well. Making ice cream is very straight forward without a mass of complex controls. The unit is self contained so there is no need to pre-freeze the bowl as is the case with some machines, with cleaning being simple and quick.
