This talk explores the Virtual Human Development (VHD) initiative, an ambitious effort to build a human developmental simulator (embryonic digital twin) capable of predicting multicellular development across time and scale. Due to ethical limits such as the 14-day rule in human embryo research, key stages of early development remain inaccessible. The VHD initiative aims to bridge this gap by integrating: • Experimental stem cell systems • Organoids and blastoids • Mathematical modeling • Multiscale systems biology • Artificial intelligence • Reinforcement learning • Model integration frameworks By creating an interdisciplinary feedback loop between experiments and theory, researchers hope to accelerate regenerative medicine, understand congenital diseases, and transform developmental biology. This initiative brings together bioengineers, theoreticians, stem cell researchers, and computational biologists to standardize model semantics, develop modular simulation platforms, and integrate AI-driven interpretation pipelines.
