PM Modi Hails Bodo Peace Accord in Assam, Slams Congress Ahead of Polls

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the 2020 Bodo Peace Accord, saying it transformed Assam’s Bodo region from violence to development, with youths abandoning guns and joining the mainstream. Addressing a large public gathering at ‘Bagurumba Dwhou 2026’, the traditional Bodo cultural programme in Guwahati, PM Modi said that “melodies of music now echo in a place where bullets once resounded.” He described the accord as a turning point that restored peace, trust and opportunity in the region. The Prime Minister said Assam’s rich culture is now gaining global recognition, adding that sustained efforts are underway to take the state’s heritage to the world stage. Lauding Assam’s diversity, PM Modi remarked that no other Prime Minister has visited the state as frequently as he has. PM Modi also launched a sharp political attack on the Congress, accusing the party of creating instability in Assam for political gains and alleging that its leaders preferred foreign infiltrators to build a vote bank.
