It was my first time visiting Southeast Asia. I had zero expectations, not because I didn’t expect much from Vietnam, but because I was focused solely on the fact that this was a trip for my mom. Maybe that’s why I loved it so much… The food was so good. Really, truly amazing. And everything was so cheap! I’d heard about it, but this was my first time actually feeling it. Honestly… if Mom hadn’t been with me, I probably would’ve dedicated all 3 nights and 4 days to doing absolutely nothing. So there’s a tiny bit of regret. Just a little, lol. I already miss the chimpanzee rice I devoured every single day. Beginner-level travel. No English needed (except at the hotel). Everyone was so kind, so gentle… and as someone extremely sensitive to racial discrimination, Da Nang felt like a whole new world. Thanks to that, I got to rest not just my body, but also my mind. Also, ask for cilantro and they’ll give you some mystery greens (which are actually delicious). You have to say “고수 주세요 (Gosu Juseyo)" in Korean to get actual cilantro in this hip city called Da Nang. All in all, it was such a joyful experience!
