Situated atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, the Kamakhya Temple is among the oldest Shakti Peethas, devoted to Goddess Kamakhya Devi—the embodiment of divine feminine energy and fertility. This documentary explores the temple’s ancient history, unique architecture, and deep spiritual significance through myths, legends, and lived devotion. Featuring insights from scholars and devotees, the film sheds light on rare traditions such as the Ambubachi Mela, which celebrates the Goddess’s menstruation and the Earth’s fertility. Revered as the highest seat of Tantric worship, Kamakhya remains largely unexplained—yet profoundly felt—inviting viewers into a timeless spiritual experience. The film was inaugurated by Shri Laxman Prasad Acharya, Hon’ble Governor of Assam, on 2nd October 2024 (the first day of Mahalaya in 2024). Since then, it has been screened at several film festivals in India and Nepal, and was honoured with the Best Film Award at the International Film Festival of Culture and Tourism 2024, held in Prayagraj in conjunction with the Mahakumbh, under the aegis of the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
