JVC Everio flat flex cable repair | RATTLECAN GUITAR RESTORATIONS by James O’Rear

Fighting the monster that consumes the project budget: equipment failure! My JVC Everio GZ- HM320BU camcorder a.k.a. the "uppy cam" is experiencing a failure of the side screen that involves internittamt video and the non-functioning of the buttons and laser touch selector. I'm lead to believe that it is the failure of a flat flex cable. I sourced a set of 2 cables on eBay for $13.98 (including postage from China) and they arrived 9 days later. Here is my attempt to repair my broken camcorder. The tools I used were a size 000 screwdriver and a pair of long tweezers. I also used a pair of needle drivers and a pair of specialty ENT forceps but the repair can be done without them. Be sure to keep track of your screw locations, they are not all the same size. The flex cables were found by Googling my model number and the term "flex cable". This is not a tutorial, this is not a how-to, this is me going through the motions and hoping it worked. Your results may vary, the onus is on you to decide if your skills can complete this repair.
