Meanwhile, Jang Zolin, leader of the Juli Clique, sought to expand his influence, but tensions with Wu escalated. As Wu's forces advanced, Jang attempted to rally support from other factions, including the Anfu Club and Dr. Sun Yat-sen's followers. However, his plans unraveled when he failed to secure Japanese backing, which had previously supported his ambitions in Manchuria. In a series of fierce battles, Wu's well-trained troops overwhelmed Jang's forces, leading to significant victories and the capture of Beijing. Despite his triumphs, Wu faced challenges in maintaining unity among the Juli Clique, as rival factions vied for power. Jang's coalition crumbled, and he was left humiliated, while Wu emerged as a dominant figure in the region. The political landscape remained unstable, with ongoing rivalries and the looming question of whether Wu could reunify China or if the warlords would continue their relentless fighting. The story reflects the tumultuous nature of China's warlord era, marked by shifting alliances, military confrontations, and the struggle for control amidst a backdrop of national disunity.
