The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation is proud to partner with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) to provide volunteer opportunities at public parklands across Corpus Christi. The “Heart Your Park” program is funded by CITGO and guided by the NRPA to engage communities in preserving and improving parklands for people and wildlife. On March 5, residents 16 and up are invited to volunteer at the Hans & Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge, 909 Ennis Joslin Rd, Corpus Christi. Volunteers will be helping to do a general clean-up of the site, including trash pickup, weed removal, and other tasks. On March 19, volunteers ages 16 and up will be working to clean up the butterfly garden area at Hans & Suter Wildlife Refuge to prepare for spring and summer butterfly populations. We will be removing overgrowth, clearing plants harmed by the 2021 freeze, and adding new plants to this area. On April 23, we invite residents ages 16 and up to assist with a coastline clean-up at Doddridge Park, 3814 Ocean Dr., along Corpus Christi Bay. We will be picking up trash and other debris along the shoreline to help keep it out of the bay. The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department is dedicated to providing quality, affordable enrichment programs for all ages and interests.
