For more info on Haldex and to buy service and repair parts, please visit these guys' website: http://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk THE HALDEX REPAIRS PROMO CODE HAS NOW EXPIRED BUT THE PARTS ARE STILL COMPETITIVELY PRICED Please note it's always difficult filming workshop items on your own so I've started to use a head mounted camera. This doesn't always pick up what it needs to because often (not always) it's actually impossible to see the item being worked on with your eye. Plus the exhaust system runs very close to the diff and coupling which again doesn't help. Apologies about the areas where this applies, hopefully they don't detract too much from the overall guide. In this video I add Haldex all wheel drive system failure to the list of things to look out for when buying a Mk7 Golf R (and many other AWD models) and show you to fix it properly and cheaply. It is disappointing that VW Group allowed a known issue with their previous generation cars to continue in these newer ones but there is a simple reason, the 30k/3 year Haldex oil change interval, while shorter than on the older PQ35 platform cars which was 40k miles with no time limit (yep, they went wrong too!), is still too long. Don't forget on the Haldex system used on a Mk1 TT/Mk4 Golf the oil change was every 20k miles. This extended interval is possibly to avoid the work having to be covered by VWG funded service plans or by leasing companies who tend to want the first 3 years to be low maintenance, why do you think the first brake fluid change is after 3 years yet the subsequent ones are every 2 years? It's the same fluid! Any issues tend to occur outside the 3 year warranty period which may means its no coincidence that VW will no longer sell you an extended 4 or 5 year warranty when the car is new. MK7 GOLF R OWNERS PLEASE READ THIS: The bevel box at the front of the propshaft is designed to fail if it's subject to excessive loads i.e. from remapped engines so this may be the cause of failure on modified cars. This video explains how to diagnose this: • 2016 Golf R Bevel Box Failure TSB This is a list of the cars affected (anything earlier will probably be Gen 4 and suffer similar issues as per our previous video) Audi A1 2015 onwards Audi A3 S3 RS3 / Sportback 2013 onwards Audi A3 Cabriolet 2014 onwards Audi Q3 2012 onwards Audi TT / TTS / TTRS Coupe/Roadster 2014 onwards Volkswagen Golf / Golf R / 4Motion 2013 onwards Volkswagen Passat / 4Motion / Santana 2015 onwards Volkswagen Sharan / syncro / 4Motion 2012 ownards Volkswagen Tiguan 2013 onwards Seat Alhambra 2012 onwards Seat Leon / Leon 4 2013 onwards Seat Altea Freetrack 2014 onwards Skoda Octavia / Scout 2013 onwards GTI PERFORMANCE/CLUBSPORT/TCR OWNERS READ THIS: Your cars have a similar Haldex system but on the front axle known as the 'VAQ front differential'. It's not particularly well known that this too needs an oil change and being based on Haldex Gen 5 it also suffers from the issues shown in this video. We will cover this in a future video.
