Following the ablation of pearly penile papules by CO2 the pain is actually not significant because the damage we caused to the skin while removing the pearly penile papules is very superficial and these are mostly on the upper layers of the skin. So the healing is fast and associated pain is very minimal. Most often our patients who are undergoing treatment for pearly penile papules with CO2 treatment has scored it as very low or minimal pain after the procedure. Usually the pain or the discomfort they experience is initially in the 24 to 48 hours and after that they don’t feel anything. Many times we do use epidermal growth factor containing gels to improve the healing and also make it fast. Using these the discomfort associated with the procedure is very minimal and the healing is excellent.
