UPDATED IN NOVEMBER 4TH, 2024: Made new version of the code that only affects cops. Also, I wish I could recreate this video, I like it but it kinda sucks and some info is missing and innacurate. I updated the description to correct the innacurate information. PS2 VERSION OF THE CODE MADE AND ADDED IN DECEMBER 26TH, 2024: You can now have fun with the crazy cops in the PlayStation 2 version of the game! I ported the rubberbanding to Need for for Speed Carbon! In that video I also do a better and shorter explanation of Undercover's Rubberbanding AI. Check it out: • Crazy Cheating Cops: Exient's Undercover A... In this video, I demonstrate and explain why, in my opinion, the AI Rubberbanding from Need for Speed Undercover (Wii & PS2), also known as Exient's Undercover, is the most broken and insane catch-up rubberbanding system in any Need for Speed game, if not any racing game. The rubberband system in this game is similar to the one in Underground 1 & 2 and Hot Pursuit 2, but it's much more exaggerated. The behavior is only present in Highway Battle & Outrun events, but I cover only the Highway Battle here. They are similar, but the Outrun one does not affect the cops. The main focus of this video is showcasing the broken side effect of the rubberband that affects cops spawned in Highway Battle, an unintentional flaw that the devs either didn't notice or simply didn't care enough to fix. This happens because the same AI function used by rival AI (except for Outrun rivals and perp AI, such as Driver Job, Chasedown, Takedown, etc) is also used by cops, so the rubberband behavior affects them as well. This function is also used by the player's autopilot, but surprisingly, there are checks to prevent rubberbanding from affecting the player's vehicle. So, I guess the devs either forgot to add checks to prevent the rubberband from affecting cops or, as I believe, they simply didn't realize it affected cops (most likely the case). The AI cheats hard—so much so that the devs even included "Cheat" in the name of two rubberbanding functions. This video has some innacurate information, some bad wording and some stuff that I didn't mentioned or should've explained better. Here are A FEW corrections and better informations about the AI rubberband: The rubberband happens when you're distant enough from rival AI, regardless if you're in the lead or too far behind - if you're too far behind the rival AI will be rubberbanding every "frame" and you will lose. Cops only rubberband if you're distant enough from rival AI. After rubberbanding for a specific number of times or specific race time has elapsed, the AI can no longer rubberband. Calculations are done with both of these which are checked to avoid rubberbanding. In reality, the race time elapsed is actually the amount of the time that the AI has been driving, individually, so if the rival AI can no longer rubberband, new spawned cops still can. The rubberband system isn't really "instant acceleration", it's a mix of physic changes that forces the AI vehicle to use nitro, change all orientations to face the route to follow, reset angular and linear velocities to eliminate any sideways and horizontal movement and set speed so it gets shoot forward (The speed it shoots at is calculated by multiplying the player's vehicle speed (your car speed) by 1.5 and applying the result to the AI vehicle). Sometimes, cops randomly face up and shoot themselves to the air, as seen at 11:21. Very funny! The rubberband "aggression" based on career progression is not a thing. The rubberband looks less aggresive at low progression because the player drives slower cars which means weaker rubberband because lower speeds. If you end or leave the Highway Battle while the rival AI is rubberbanding, they will always be rubberbanding in Free Roam every "frame", bizarre bug. Cops constantly switch between pursuit AI and race AI, in some scenarios, they only stay in pursuit AI, because of this, there's a delay each time they rubberband, causing them to drive erraticly and sometimes even flying I also demonstrate a cheat code I made to enable the AI rubberbanding in any mode/event instead of having to be in Highway Battle event, same for AI cars having nitrous. It was made with intention to have crazy and funny moments with cops. It was always my dream to be able to make cops do these crazy stuff outside of Highway Battle (because Highway Battle is very limited) and I was finally able to make a code to do it! :D Here's are the codes for both Wii and PS2 along with other rubberbanding related codes: Wii: https://tinyurl.com/AIRubberbandingCo... PS2: https://tinyurl.com/AIRubberbandingCo... Watch this video to see a simulation of the Highway Battle Rubberband AI, basically their point of view, it's pretty interesting to see their power: • Highway Battle Rubberband AI Simulator Hac... Really hope you guys liked the video and enjoyed the craziness shown in the video. Thanks for watching!
