Originally released July 24 1916 "A Natural Born Gambler" was the first of two films written, directed by, and starring Broadway legend Bert Williams. It was the first time a Black American was permitted such control over mainstream film production. As every existing copy is in terrible condition, I have taken the source from https://archive.org/details/gambler and removed the noise/dust, stabilized it, interpolated the frames, upscaled to 4k, and colorized using neural networks. This was performed as part of a series of restoration experiments, and this was my first, so it's not quite perfect.
