Mitchell Freeway Extension Opened (Hester Avenue - Romeo Road)

In the early hours of the morning on July the 10th 2023, the new extension of the Mitchell Freeway from Hester Avenue to Romeo Road opened, with exits at Lukin Drive and Butler Boulevard in between. Neighbouring roads such as Wanneroo Road and Romeo Road were also upgraded as part of the project. The new freeway provides a safer and faster connection to the far northern suburbs, reducing congestion in peak times near the Hester Avenue exit and on Connolly Drive and Marmion Avenue. The freeway also passes on both sides of the Nowergup rail and bus depots, which, from the right side of the freeway over the wall there is a great view of. Isn't it crazy how that went from being in the middle of bushland after the last stop on the train line to what it is now? Finally, the exits of Butler Boulevard and Romeo Road are now the two closest exists along Perth's entire freeway system, even surpassing Karrinyup Road and Cedric Street. I set out early at 7AM on this morning to drive on the new roads, so here it is (there is no audio because I was having conversations with my dad as I am still learning to drive).
