The Birks of Aberfeldy - Aberfeldy - Scotland | 4K | DJI Mini 3 Pro

Birks of Aberfeldy is a beautiful gorge walk in the small town of Aberfeldy along the Moness Burn. Several scenic waterfalls are on the way, with the impressive Falls of Moness at the highest point of the circular walk. Not all the waterfalls are located on the stream, but many are formed flowing down the banks of the gorge and joining the burn below. Few wooden bridges are overstepping these smaller falls which makes the walk much more charming and interesting. The main Falls of Moness can be appreciated from two main viewpoints - one opposite to the cascade, the other one at the bridge directly over the falls. Both are part of the circular walk, so there is no way to miss them. Falls of Moness and Birks of Aberfeldy are famous for inspiring prominent Scottish bart, Robert Burns to write the poem Birks of Aberfeldy, and it is commemorated by his statue sitting on the bench at the start of the walk as well as the third verse of the poem carved into the wooden plank at the main viewpoint. The walk itself is very clearly marked and not too long, slightly over 2 miles (it takes around 90 minutes to finish). It starts at the car park and leads to the bridge where you can choose which side of the river you want to start your circular walk (you will come back on the other side). You need to take into consideration, that Moness Falls is located at the highest part of the trail, with 195 meters of elevation gain, so there will be some upward walk all the way to it, no matter which side of the river you start with. The eastern side of the Moness Burn is much more interesting, with many small waterfalls flowing down the slope and all wooden bridges and platforms are located there. The western side is less rugged and feels more like a gentle walk through the forest, but still upwards if you choose this side first. There are two car parks, one closer to the road, much smaller, for bigger vehicles. The second car park is big, but there is a height limiter over the road leading to it. That road is also full of holes and you need to be very careful when navigating it. There are no toilets or any other amenities on the site. Interesting fact - Wikipedia states that this waterfall is 150 meters in height - this is not true (it would make it the second-highest waterfall in Scotland). According to some other sources it is 115 meters high in three cascades, but I don't think this is true either. I would give it 60 meters at most.
