A small wholesale coffee business owner in B.C. recently suffered major 25 percent hits from U.S. import tariffs. John Sanders owns Origins Coffee Roasters, a wholesale coffee company established in 1999 on Granville Island that sells to cafes and the general public. Sanders has to import everything that the business needs. He recently picked up a big client, OEB Breakfast Co., which has 20 locations across Canada and two in the United States. “[The contract] requires us to bring in over $100,000 of equipment, all manufactured in the U.S.,” Sanders said. “I just got hit with a $25,000 tariff charge to roll this company out.
