46100 Royal Scot ran for the last time before withdrawal from service where she will be taken for storage at the One:One Collection in Margate and then an eventual overhaul with not knowing how long it may all take, she could sadly be out of traffic for a very long while! It is said that she will be swapping places with LNER A4 Pacific 4464 Bittern where she will be taken into North Yorkshire for overhaul with the help of The Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust, a loco we certainly can't wait to see in steam again! On 13th January 2025 she hauled her final train on a private charter service from Crewe to Holyhead and return with Class 40 D213 Andania (Yesterday as of typing). Sadly we were not able to see this tour due to a knee injury I've been recovering from since seeing 44932 on the KWVR! We don't usually make farewell compilations but 46100 Royal Scot will always have a special place in my heart as my Great Great Grandad use to drive her on a regular basis up and down the Midland Mainline in the 1930s & 1940s to which it has been a real honour to her many times during her boiler ticket and she has certainly been one of the best mainline performers. This video sees Royal Scot around multiple locations with the highlights including: Hauling The Fellsman 2nd September 2020 seen around the north west of England including on the famous Settle & Carlisle Line (Please do excuse the wind noise these clips, back then we didn't have the microphones we have today with wind protection and the weather wasn't the kindest) On The Buxton Spa Express seen in Derbyshire 29th September 2021 Being the star of the show at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railways 2022 Spring Steam Gala 13th March 2022 Departing Chesterfield on her old stomping ground in a hurry 8th May 2024. Railtours featuring in this video: The York Yuletide Express 16th December 2017 The Christmas White Rose 20th December 2017 The Fellsman 2nd September 2020 The Buxton Spa Express 29th September 2021 The White Rose 2nd February 2022 The White Rose 6th April 2022 Colchester to Chesterfield Steam Dreams Excursion 8th May 2024 Sadly she could be in storage in Margate for a very long while with overhauls of 5029 Nunney Castle, 6024 King Edward I, 45231 The Sherwood Forester & 4464 Bittern need to take place and be completed. And maybe even 34046 Braunton after she is withdrawn in the near future it is unknown when 46100 Royal Scot will be overhauled. Fingers crossed it will not be too long before we see Royal Scot in steam again. We'd like to thank those who were involved in restoring her to mainline condition and those who kept and maintained her at Locomotive Services Group, she's a real credit to their fantastic work. Without them we wouldn't have seen one of the most famous and finest steam locomotives in preservation running. Please like, comment & subscribe for more videos - Enjoy!
