Alireza Tahbaz-Salehi: Supply Chain Disruptions: Evidence from the Great East Japan Earthquake

Alireza Tahbaz-Salehi, Professor of Managerial Economics & Decision Sciences, presents his study, “Supply Chain Disruptions: Evidence from the Great East Japan Earthquake” at the 2025 Faculty Research Conference. Professor Tahbaz-Salehi’s research shows how economic shocks ripple through supply chains, amplifying their impact on firms, suppliers and customers. Using the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake as a case study, the findings reveal that these disruptions contributed to a 0.47 percentage point drop in Japan’s GDP growth.
