3D Sketch : https://www.3dmechanism.com/post/3d-e... Donate PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted... In this CAD tutorial we'll use the features: 1. Revolve Definition: Creates the main cylindrical shape of the wheel. How it works: You sketch the cross-section of the rim (the "barrel" where the tire sits) and spin it 360°. Best for: The outer rim barrel and the central hub. 2. Offset Plane Definition: Creates a sketching surface away from the origin. How it works: The Problem: The face of a car wheel isn't flat; the spokes often curve inward (concave) or sit deeper than the rim lip. The Solution: Use an Offset Plane to define exactly how deep inside the barrel the spoke face begins. Best for: Setting the depth of the wheel's "face." 3. Extrude Definition: Creates the spoke geometry. How it works: Sketch: Draw the shape of one spoke on your Offset Plane. Action: Extrude it back towards the hub to create the solid spoke connecting the rim to the center. Best for: Creating the complex design of the wheel spokes. 4. Circular Pattern Definition: Duplicates features radially. How it works: Efficiency: You only model one spoke. Action: Select the spoke (Extrude feature) and pattern it 5, 6, or 10 times around the center axis. Best for: Creating the full set of matching spokes instantly. 5. Coil (Optional but cool) Definition: Creates a helical spring or cut. How it works: In Wheels: While rare for standard rims, Coil is used to cut "Turbine" style vents or twist patterns into the spokes, or to model the threading for the center cap. Best for: Aesthetic "twist" details or functional threads. 6. Hole Definition: Drills standard bolt holes. How it works: Creates the "Lug Nut" pattern (e.g., 5x114.3) that bolts the wheel to the car. Best for: The mounting holes.
