Danny Inc. decided to maintain 67.67 % of retained earnings. Using two techniques, find out Danny Inc.'s last year's dividend proportion. Using first ratio of dividend payout formula, we get – Dividend Ratio = Dividends / Net Income = $160,000 / $450,000 = 1/3 = 35.56%. Using second ratio of dividend payout formula, we get – Dividend Payout Ratio Formula = 1 – Retention Ratio = 1 – 67.67% = 32.33%.
