Today I spent the afternoon walking through the beautiful Frist Art Museum exploring two inspiring exhibitions. The main exhibition, Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse, traces the story of Impressionism from its beginnings in 1874 through its lasting influence in the early 20th century. The show features stunning paintings and sculpture from artists who helped reshape the art world, including Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse, and Piet Mondrian. Walking through the galleries, you can see how these artists pushed the boundaries of color, light, and brushwork, changing the direction of modern art. After exploring the Impressionists, I also visited the first floor exhibition In Her Place: Nashville Artists in the Twenty‑First Century. This powerful show highlights the work of 28 celebrated Nashville-based women artists and includes nearly 100 works ranging from painting and sculpture to textiles and installation art. Each piece offers a unique voice and perspective on contemporary art in our city. Come along as I take a quiet walk through the galleries, share some favorite moments, and soak in the creativity and inspiration from both historic masters and contemporary women artists.
