BACKSTORY This room used to be my home in London. At the time, we had a housemate who was seriously struggling with his mental health. Living there became uncomfortable for everyone. Things in the communal space started getting broken — including a music table and instruments I had set up for shared use. Nothing was done about it. No cameras. No locked doors. Just “maybe keep your stuff in your room.” One of my housemates moved out because she saw it coming. I stayed at her place during his last days in the house because I didn’t feel safe. He already pushed me and grabbed my arm, other than breaking several of my things before moving out. He also killed my monstera plant cutting her at the root. Lucky my cat wasn't around in that time... I was trying to keep my work afloat — I had bookings, and I’d already had to move some because of the chaos at home. When I asked (in tears) to keep the communal music room available so I could work, it was instead filled with his belongings. The room was eventually locked — just not when it would have actually helped. But on me because I threw a broken mixer that was put in this communal space. We already tried to fix it. I needed the space to work. The excuse was that the mixer was “meant for charity” and that I would have lost part of my deposit for throwing it. The truth? It wasn’t going to charity — it was going to a friend that collects instruments. The mixer just became another excuse in an already strange situation. So before leaving, I closed the chapter my way. I filmed this video in that room, sent an email that night saying I was gone, and that they could keep the deposit. Sometimes the "cleanest" exit is creative... Love Aphrodite Is The Jackal .
