This manifesto can be framed as a doctrine of “Hard Sovereignty” — a program that blends economic nationalism, technocratic centralisation, civic obligation, and cultural conservatism into a single restructuring project for the Australian state. At its core, Sovereign Pragmatism argues that Australia has become a passive, hollowed-out economy: a quarry dependent on global capital, fragmented by identity politics, over-governed by duplicative bureaucracies, and strategically subordinate to larger powers. The proposed remedy is not small reform but structural reset. The platform rests on five pillars: Economic Nationalism with Industrial Strategy Australia becomes a “processor not a quarry.” Domestic value-adding of minerals (including a full nuclear fuel cycle), prohibition of foreign ownership of strategic assets, curbs on financialisation, carbon pricing, and abolition of most subsidies. It is capitalism with state guardrails — not free market orthodoxy, but not socialism either. Energy-Driven Industrial Expansion A nuclear-enabled energy strategy (SMRs, gas expansion, extended coal life), AI “Energy Zones,” and full-cost competition across the grid. The bet is that cheap, dense energy equals geopolitical leverage and AI dominance. Centralised Meritocratic Governance Abolition of state governments, expert-led cabinet selection, five-year fixed terms, prohibition of lobbying and donations, and extremely strong anti-corruption measures. This is framed as eliminating pork-barrelling and political short-termism. Civic Obligation & Cultural Reset Mandatory national service, restricted Tier-1 voting rights (excluding prisoners, immigrants, and welfare recipients), abolition of race-specific institutions, strict English requirements for migrants, repeal of hate-speech laws, strong free-speech protections, secular public schools, anti-abortion stance, and parental sovereignty. Strategic Autonomy Defence manufacturing, reduced reliance on the US, Asia-centric diplomacy, sovereign data storage, no CBDC, and hard limits on foreign control of land and mining. In short, it proposes a highly centralised, disciplined, energy-rich, sovereign republic that trades liberal proceduralism for cohesion, obligation, and industrial strength.
