Follow me on Social Media: Instagram : / wineterroir Twitter: / wineterroircom Facebook: / wineterroircom Some our most popular videos: Exploring the Wines of Mt Etna Part 2 - Episode 14 - Wine Terroir https://goo.gl/Wke2im The King of Beaujolais - Episode 4 - Wine Terroir https://goo.gl/Mei9AA Exploring the wines of Mt Etna - Episode 13 - Wine Terroir https://goo.gl/5JMbUz Luma Monteiro talks about Tannins and Alocohol in Wine - Episode 16 - Wine Terroir https://goo.gl/xKDPZC Aromatic White Wines - Episode 3 - Wine Terroir https://goo.gl/o5KKrc 0:02.7 hi everyone welcome to this episode of wine terroir on this episode we're gonna be talking about seven belong from New Zealand we're talking New Zealand seven blog and the birthplace of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which has in the last 20 years become an archetype of white wine is marble New Zealand which is in the South of the two islands in New Zealand right on the eastern side of the South Island right after the Strait that separates 0:48.9 the two islands and I can't remember the name of the strait but I'm sure I'll put it in the comments up above here what makes New Zealand something Blanc interesting for one thing the grapes there can be ungrounded because there's no official phlox era in most of the region and they can be grown on their own root stocks which inject from my experience of tasting things has been a 1:07.2 good thing the other thing is it's a fairly cold climate in the nighttime and then a warm plummet in the daytime due to its elevation and there's a large temperature differential between the daytime and nighttime temperatures called a diurnal shift that lets the grapes sleep and actually increases the acidity and the grapes it actually helps some grape flavor profiles come out one of the wines that put New Zealand stuff in Blanc on the map was cloudy bay and 1:28.4 we're gonna be tasting a wine from greywacke which is the winemaker Kevin Judd who started his career about 25 years from the inception of Cloudy Bay which is the again the place that put New Zealand Simon blanc on the map and so we were tasting his wine and he basically left Cloudy Bay to start greywacke and he's acquired a number of great vineyard sites and we're be tasting his entry level Savion blog okay so for the first thing I noticed with 2:01.3 this wine is the color this is a pale lemon green color I don't really use the term lemon green very often Savion Blanc especially from new world self-employed is one of the great the wines that kind of most embodies that that color in terms of the nose the intensity the definitely a pronounced nose it's really jumping out of the glass and I'm getting aromas of lime zest grassy notes green beans 2:32.5 Quinn's gooseberry even green grapes oh and I do get a lightly like savory note that I call sunflower like salted sunflower seeds that I get on some reductive lines so let's give this a taste so although it's brown some knows I'm getting medium plus intensity on the palate the wine is bone-dry there's a lot of a lot of things going on the plow still it just it's medium plus intensity in terms of acidity it's high I mean you know super clean laser-like acidity call it medium plus alcohol I believe it's 13% and then the palate sort of the body of 3:28.3 the wine is medium - there's a little thin not the greatest example in that I don't think it's trying to be a super round voluptuous wine it is trying to be you know super clean and refreshing something you're drinking you definitely have chilled and on the flavor profile still getting the grassy green beans quince gooseberry citrus lime lemon zest there's a you know a little maybe a little bit of Granny Smith apple as well the finishes medium length I actually 4:02.3 really like the finish and for me overall you know this is a solid wine it's not you know it's not rocking my world not ridiculously complex but I called 87 88 points and I think I'm gonna give it 88 points because the #wine #review #food Thanks for watching the video Wine Review: Taste Tasting New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc | Wine Terroir
