Hello everyone and peace! This Sunday we continue reading from the Gospel of John. The story of the man born blind invites us to reflect on both physical and spiritual sight. In Jesus’ time, many believed that illness or disability was the result of someone’s sin. When Jesus is asked whether the man’s blindness was caused by his own sin or that of his parents, Jesus shifts the focus away from blame and instead reveals that God’s power can be made visible through this man’s life. Jesus then restores his sight. The healing becomes controversial because it takes place on the Sabbath. The Pharisees, the religious leaders of the time, believed that the law forbade work on the Sabbath, including healing. They question the man and even his parents, struggling to believe that a miracle has occurred. When the man speaks boldly about the good that Jesus has done, the leaders reject his testimony and expel him from the synagogue. Later, Jesus seeks out the man again and reveals himself as the Son of Man. The man responds with faith and worship. Through this encounter, he comes to see not only with his eyes but with his heart. The story also points to the meaning of Baptism—the washing in the pool of Siloam symbolizes new life in Christ. While the man gradually comes to believe, those who think they see clearly remain spiritually blind. #ANCC #independentsacramentalmovement #LGBTQIaffirming #catholicreform #progressivecatholics #catholicfaith #CatholicMass #catholicmasstoday #catholiclife #catholicfaith #oldcatholic #NationalCatholic #DioceseofManagua
