Fearful that his brother Esau will kill him, he humbly prayed to the LORD for deliverance, showing repentance for his earlier practices as a deceiver. Jacob sleeps alone in the desert and is awoken by an angel who wrestles him through the night. Jacob then is blessed by the angel who changed his name to “Yisrael” (“contender with God”). Jacob finally meets his brother and, surprisingly, they embraced. Rachel has another child, whom she and Jacob named Benjamin. Like Jacob, some of us may have relationships that have been strained. Or we may even have committed a great wrong toward someone close to us. In time and with the Lord’s leading, even these estranged relationships can be healed.
