(19 Feb 2026) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: ++SOUNDBITE SEPARATED BY BLACK FRAMES++ ASSOCIATED PRESS Los Angeles - 18 February 2026 1. Wide of Social Media Victims Law Center (SMVLC)'s founder and attorney Matthew Bergman walks with others toward the media 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Bergman, Founder and Attorney, Social Media Victims Law Center (SMVLC): "These parents have traveled throughout the United States to come and bear moral witness because their children can't. They have, in many cases, stayed overnight in front of the courthouse in order to ensure that they can have the right and the opportunity to see justice in process." 3. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Bergman, Founder and Attorney, Social Media Victims Law Center (SMVLC): "What we heard today was what they taught me in law school was the term pettifoggery, which is, how do you wordsmith things around to change reality? How do you use high-handed prose to obscure the truth? How do you say that, so we saw a lot of wordsmithing. We saw statements like we don't allow children under 13 is presented while ignoring the truth of the matter. We're saying we saw statements that we do not promote, enhanced time on our platform. And we saw that the documents spoke otherwise. We said that we do not recognize the risks of body dysmorphia when the documents proved otherwise. This was a momentous period of time. This was momentous event in the history of American law and American jurisprudence because it was something that for years a social media company never thought would happen. They never thought that they would ever have to face a jury. They never though that they'd have to stand up and explain themselves under oath, because they thought that through section 230, they could avoid the liability and avoid the responsibility that every other company in America bears witness to and operates under." ++BLACK FRAMES++ 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Bergman, Founder and Attorney, Social Media Victims Law Center (SMVLC): "This case is now and will be in the wise hands of the jury. But we know that simply because we achieve this milestone, justice has been done and justice will continue to be done in this case and others." ++BLACK FRAMES++ 5. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Bergman, Founder and Attorney, Social Media Victims Law Center (SMVLC): "It is our hope and expectation that the social media platforms of tomorrow will be safer than the ones today and that these parents who stand before you will not have - their effort in their sacrifice will not been in vain." ++BLACK FRAMES++ 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Matthew Bergman, Founder and Attorney, Social Media Victims Law Center (SMVLC): 'This is only the first of several trials, that Mr. Zuckerberg will be testifying in and it is our hope and expectation that the truth will prevail." ++BLACK FRAMES++ 7. SOUNDBITE (English) Tammy Rodriguez, Selena Rodriguez's mother: "No. I don't have any satisfaction. It's very similar to what happened in Congress two years ago when he swore under oath and I feel just like I did when I left that day. But we're here and we're in a courtroom. So that's a big thing." 8. SOUNDBITE (English) Tammy Rodriguez, Selena Rodriguez's mother: "I just know that more children have died since my daughter died in 2021, so things are not any better." 9. SOUNDBITE (English) Tammy Rodriguez, Selena Rodriguez's mother: "I can't say after today's, but I believe that there will be change, yes." ++EDIT ENDS ON SOUNDBITE++ STORYLINE: The plaintiff’s attorney, Mark Lanier, asked Zuckerberg if people tend to use something more if it’s addictive.
