WINTER Looks To Go Out With A BANG

A blizzard is unfolding across the Northeast today, and conditions will deteriorate through the afternoon into tonight. Blizzard and Winter Storm Warnings are up for much of the eastern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England as a powerful storm system will be winding up in the Atlantic. Very heavy snow will begin to fall in West Virginia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania this afternoon, and that will only increase in intensity through tonight into New Jersey, Delaware, and New York. As we head through the night, winds will increase with near hurricane force wind gusts along the coast of New England and Long Island by tomorrow morning. Widespread coastal flooding will be a problem as well. Power outages and impassable roads can also be expected. Beyond that, arctic air looks to return to the US along with an active storm track, which will set the stage for potentially two other winter storms through the Ohio Valley and the Northeastern quadrant of the US.
