Welcome to Mather Campground at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. This is the largest campground we have documented yet, so to make things easier, we put timestamps at the beginning of each major loop so you can fast forward to sections of interest. Mather has 319 reservable single sites. The campground is located within a forest of Pinyon Pine, Junipers and Ponderosa Pines. Do note the campground does not have views of the Grand Canyon, but it is within walking distance, or by shuttle. There are many food options nearby within the park if you don't want to do campsite cooking. The General Store, also near by, is a full sized grocery store, combined with a gift shop and deli. We find that most of the sites here are good. They are usually spread out well enough for a National Park compared to others, and the trees provide shade for most sites. This is one of the most convenient campgrounds you can camp at at any National Park, in or opinion, and we have yet to have a bad experience camping here.
