Trip to Brno. Places visited: -- Cabbage Market -- Park Moravské náměstí: enjoyed the shallow water -- Špilberk Castle: climbed the tower for a great view of the city, and wandered around the old prisons -- St. Paul’s and St. Peter’s Cathedral: tall gothic structure -- Astronomical Clock in the main square: complicated way to tell the time -- Old Town Hall: a carcass of a crocodile hanging in the entrance to support the Brno Dragon legend; panoramic view of the city -- Moravian square: the horse statue and the light fountain The next day we explored Brno's dark underground sites. -- Žlutý kopec water tanks: three colossal underground reservoirs; a testament to outstanding technical industrial architecture -- Bunker 10-Z: a real nuclear shelter built during World War II, dug deep into the rock under Špilberk Castle; this significant historical technical building with its own diesel unit, air filtration system, and a telephone exchange, gave us a glimpse into the past with its Cold-War-era atmosphere -- Church of St. James and its ossuary: a large collection of human bones in the underground chambers Brno is organized, vibrant, cozy, and friendly!
