Oslo, Norway Must-See Attractions | Our Top 5 Must-See Attractions!

Our last visit on this trip was Oslo, Norway. It is such an amazing city with so much to do, this is our suggestions for the best of the city. With over 50 museums and attractions all over the city, I used very broad categories. I could spend months in Oslo and still not see everything! We started with a walk to Akershus Fortress where we got to see sculptures, flowers, a fountain and then the horses at Akershus. The medieval Fortress was built for protection and royal residences and has been used as a prison and the office of the prime minister of Norway. It holds private functions in the castle, which was the case when we visited. We took a tour that included Vigeland Sculpture Park with the life work of over 200 sculptures of Gustav Vigeland. Not only is there an entire sculpture park, there are statues and sculptures around Oslo. After the park, we took a Fjord cruise to see some of the attractions like the Opera House, Munch museum, City Hall and Akershus from Oslofjord. My favourite part of Oslo, though, is the museums. There are SO many, there is even an island with five major museums - The Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, The Viking Ship Museum (undergoing a major renovation when we visited), The Maritime Museum, Fram the Polar Museum and The Kon-Tiki Museum. Oslo has museums for whatever my interest you - the Nobel Peace Price, History museums, Museums of Norway and Oslo, art museums, even a skating museum. I am a museum lover and want to go back to see more! Oslo is a beautiful city with so much to do, I highly recommend a visit!
