Mike Vallely, Johnee Kop and Steve Rocco Hell Tour II demo at You Animal You Overland Park, Kansas summer 1987. This was the first demo I ever witnessed and it made quite an impact on my skateboarding over the next few years. I worked for so long to learn ho-hos after seeing Mike at this demo and we skated launch ramps non-stop. I intentionally kept the editing minimal as to not strip away the feeling of actually being there. It's fun to pick out people in the crowd that I would come to know years later through skateboarding, like Nate Miller (Alva) and some of the hometown heroes skating at the end: Corey Brown, Andy Brayman (Blockhead), Chris Reno. Yellow shirt might be Brent Kronmueller but maybe not - he couldn't remember. Rocco didn't skate much if at all. He walks up in white t-shirt around the 6:00 mark. As you may have guessed by the repeated panning of the crowd looking for my brother and I, this was filmed by my mom. Thanks mom! That's 12 year old me in the purple Rat Bones t-shirt at 2:16 and my brother in the red t-shirt at 3:28.
