Quake Live is a first person arena shooter video game by id Software. It is an updated version of Quake III Arena that was originally designed as a free-to-play game launched via a web browser plug-in. On September 17, 2014, the game was re-launched as a standalone title on Steam and as of 2026 the game still has around 300 to 400 players daily across various servers. Quake Live is recommended for FPS fans who enjoy fast paced arcade arena style shooters that rely on speed, precision, and high skill. It is worth the price of $9.99 on Steam but I would personally wait for a sale just to save a few dollars and due to the fact that there are no offline single player modes. This game is a great alternative to mediocre arena shooters such as SplitGate which seems to have no direction for several months now.
