It is a comfortable position for the last race on the paper unless Kevin finishes the race lower than 3th and I got a single point. If he wins (15 points) I must finish not lower than 5th (6 points) to seal the championship win. Easy? No. Circuit of Ireland is a monster of a track, about the same length as Nordschleife. Even if it's a baby compared to Isle of Man TT track, it's still a difficult track with traps, jumps, launches all around. On the paper, during the championship I raced many of its parts - backwards direction. The only familiar section was the last one that is identical to Lamanagh. So, except for that I was very cautious, trying to recall the actual section reverse and guess the cornering speeds, brake points etc. My Honda CBR600R was overpowered by the Yamahas during the whole season. It received no upgrades for the very last race. The transmission was set to slightly reduced acceleration to gain some top speed due to the long straights as well as some tweaking on the suspension to make the bike turn sharper. Well, not for the better. My very stable and predictable bike of the pervious races started to produce liftoffs and through fast bend sections it became nervous. After the very first too bold corners I felt that it's off today. How did this mix worked in the practice and what was the impact on the championhsip?
