The neighborhood of Saint-Henri is located in the north of Marseilles. Many of the district's 100,000 residents are immigrants. Poverty and unemployment is high,and drug use is common. The L'Alhambra cinema is a small oasis in the midst of what is one of the toughest districts in the port city. The historic movie theater,which dates back to the 1930s,was restored by the city and now functions as the cultural and social hub of the neighborhood. Once a year,the L'Alhambra hosts a community festival that draws everyone from the district,native-born and immigrants alike.
