To deter small hive beetle we suggest installing HiveGate suspended just above the landing board. Because of its anatomy, small hive beetle struggles to navigate the 90 degree angle to climb the vertical. Even if it managed to climb the vertical, it then has to navigate the bottom of the HiveGate which is smooth and without grip. Next, to enter the HiveGate it would have to move around a sharp edge at a 180 degree angle which it anatomically is not built for.
