The Eighth Romanian Network Operators Group Meeting, 27 September 2023 The eighth edition of the RONOG event hosted by the Interlan Association took place on September 27, 2023 in Bucharest, where representatives of telecommunications network operators and relevant organizations from Romania and the region participated. With more than 150 participants from 18 countries, a highly animated conference, the service and technology exhibition that occupied more than 600 square meters and a memorable networking event, the 8th edition of the meeting of telecommunications network operators in Romania RONOG, held on September 27, at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Bucharest, was unanimously considered by the participants to be one of the best in their entire history. The event started at 8:30 a.m. with participant registration, networking and welcome coffee, followed by the opening of the conference at 9 a.m. by the president of InterLAN, Eric-Andrei Băleanu, the host of RONOG 8, who welcomed to the participants, he presented the day's agenda and thanked the sponsors, media partners, the presentation selection team and the organizers who made this edition a success. The first session was moderated by Alexandru Rotaru (RoLink Plus SA) and brought together Neven Dilkov and George Petrică (Neterra), who presented "Experience Perspective of the Global Internet Exchange Platform Neterra", René Fichtmüller (Global NOG Alliance) who presented a summary of the projects carried out by the Global NOG Alliance, Radu Ghidiceanu (ANISP) and Eric Andrei Băleanu (Interlan Association) presented an update of the interconnection platforms. After the coffee and networking break at 11:00 followed the second session presented by Virgil Truică (Path Network) and which brought together Vlad Moise (TP-Link) with a discussion about Business Networking Solutions in 2023, Roman Dodin ( NOKIA) who presented ContainerLab, a free and opensource network testing tool and Marcin Bała (Salumanus) who presented the challenges of gigabit transmission speeds in high-speed optical networks. From 14:00, the third plenary session was hosted by Tiberiu Gîndu (ISOC Romanian Chapter) and brought before the audience Alejandro Hume (Softing IT Netoworks) who spoke about LANs - best practices for testing cables, Nina Bargisen (Kentik) with a presentation of the largest BGP incidents on the Internet, Matěj Pavelka (Flowcutter) with Anomaly detection in huge data sets using Flow and Lucian Constantin (Kronect) who answered the question in the title of his presentation: Are data and voice networks inside buildings ready for the near future? After the coffee and networking break at 15:30, followed the closing session moderated by Angela Stănescu (InterLAN-IX) during which René Fichtmüller (Flexoptix) showed how we can get involved in creating connections between communities and unconnected environments, Dan Croitoru (Starnet Media) who presented a new radio communications service that will be launched in October through Global Radio System technology and Alex Semenyaka (RIPE NCC), who presented the RPKI report in Romania. The event ended with a Kahoot contest where participants answered questions on some of the key information heard throughout the day, the contest being awarded with an electric scooter provided by InterLAN, a Softing Cable Tester - CableMaster 210 from Telegrup, a JBL Go Essential portable audio speaker and a Penknife instrument from DCN Europe as well as a free three-month radio communication subscription offered by Global Radio System Romania.
