In early December, I took the ÖBB Nightjet sleeper train from Amsterdam to Innsbruck as part of my winter Interrail adventure. The train departed right on time from Amsterdam Centraal in the evening, and I had booked a classic sleeper compartment – not a MiniCabin, but a real bed with a private sink and breakfast included. The ride was quiet and surprisingly comfortable. The bed was cozy, the temperature in the cabin was just right, and I managed to get a full night’s sleep – something I definitely didn’t experience the last time I tried one of those tiny MiniCabins, where I ended up sleeping in my jacket. I woke up early the next morning to stunning views of the snow-covered Alps – absolutely magical. We even arrived in Innsbruck a few minutes ahead of schedule, which is impressive considering the winter conditions. The Nightjet sleeper isn’t the cheapest option, but for longer routes like this one, I’d say the comfort and privacy are well worth it. Curious to see what it’s like? Check out my full trip report and let me know in the comments if you’d try the Nightjet yourself!
