The passive form can be confusing and some verbs sound more like tongue twisters, but with practice, you can sound like a pro! Here is the passive sentence form: RECEIVING THE ACTION は + DOING THE ACTION に + VERBられる = PASSIVE To conjugate the verbs, find the dictionary or plain form, change the final "u" to "a" and add れる. Exceptions: If the verb ends in an あ・い・う・え・お, change to わ and then add れる. Irregular verbs する is される and くる is こられる. The only exception is verbs that end in a vowel. Those become われる. In this video, we'll drill according to verb groups. First, listen to the non-passive verb and think of the passive form. 10 seconds later, the passive form is spoken followed by both forms in Japanese. Repeat after the speaker, paying attention to the pronunciation.
