The Richmond Raiders waltzed into their match on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They claimed a resounding 84-51 victory over Scotland on the road. Given Richmond's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Scotland is ranked 381st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected. Jamarion Wall was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 20 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was JV Drake, who scored nine points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Despite the defeat, Scotland saw an underclassman step up: Shyland Harrell scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Lampley, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Richmond is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Scotland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10. Richmond will head out on the road to take on Southern Lee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southern Lee is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Scotland, they will be playing at home against Hoke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hoke County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
