Dear IELTS candidates, I have created this video lesson to teach you how to describe a map for the Writing Section of the Academic IELTS examination. I highly recommend using the following strategies: 1) Show contrasting words and phrases in your response when describing changes. • Initially, the building was located in____Later, however, it was demolished_____ • While this park was small, it was then increased in size to accommodate more sports facilities. • No changes were made to the pool over the period given/shown. 2) Show cause and effect relationships in your description. • In order to accommodate more residents (cause), more houses were built in the area (effect). • As it was inconvenient for people to enter the building in the western part (cause), the entrance was moved to the eastern section (effect).
