During his 27 year long sacrifice, President Mandela spent much of his time in a modest pair of HI-TEC tennis shoes, Fighting for Freedom, so that one day we may all be free, especially the children of South Africa. The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund (NMCF) was founded in 1995 by President Mandela with its mission to address the challenges children of South Africa face on a daily basis. With this in mind, HI-TEC, a London-born heritage brand has decided to pay tribute to Mandela, his long walk to freedom, and his legacy left behind with a reimagined release of the 'Freedom 67's', in turn raising funds for the children of South Africa via the NMCF with an auction and sale of the sneakers. With only 67 special edition pairs made, the final pair, 67/67 will be auctioned off on www.hi-tec.co.za on Sunday 18 July - registration is open right now to bid for this iconic piece of South African sneaker history.
