Probation Violation: What is the most common way to violate probation?

A probation violation happens when the terms or conditions of that probation are violated by someone who has already been convicted for a felony. Therefore, the consequences of the violation can be quite serious, including sending the violator to prison or probation to complete the remainder of his sentence (and probably extra time for the crime that caused the violation). Judges also have broad discretion to both consider that a violation has occurred and to determine the appropriate punishment for that violation.
