Tilicho Base Camp - Heavy snwofall: The plan was to do an acclimatisation tour to Tilicho Lake, but due to the extreme avalanche risk and heavy snowfall, it was only possible to reach an altitude of 4,480 metres. This was already high enough in the high-risk zone with slopes exceeding 35°. Tilicho Base Camp - Yak Kharka: After an extended stay at Tilicho Base Camp due to avalanche danger, we continued over avalanche debris cones via Shree Kharka to Yak Kharka. From Shree Kharka to Yak Kharka, we were the first group on the trail and had to break trail through 40 cm of snow. Our guide was incredible – he was able to find the high trail without signposts. It was incredibly exhausting. Yak Kharka - Thorong Base Camp: With light snowfall, we trudged through the snow to Thorong Base Camp in Thorong Phedi and across an impressive 370-metre-long suspension bridge. In the afternoon, the sun came out again and the mood improved.
