If you would like to paint with me, my Replicants Zoom Course starts next Wednesday night! Follow this link for info and to reserve your spot: https://www.paypal.com/instantcommerc... Join me for a one-night-only paint night on April 3rd! https://py.pl/uCgiM Watch as I try to replicate this very atmospheric background art from Samurai Jack, originally painted by Scott Wills. Samurai Jack is an animated action-adventure dystopian television series created by Genndy Tartakovsky for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim and is one of my all-time favourites…. It’s beautiful, moody, philosophical, and humorous. It’s been a while since I’ve watched the series so I don’t remember what episode this scene is from, but I plan on rewatching over the next few months. But, if you know, please let me know in the comments below. This piece was a tough one to replicate… all that precision! However, I think it was a great learning experience and I will definitely be painting rain again in the near future. Gouache is a tough medium, but once you get the hang of it, it’s amazing how precise and smooth it can be. Blending gouache, creating a dry brush texture, reflections, and mixing colours are all techniques I cover in this video. Thank you to the participants of my Zoom course who allowed me to share the screen-grab of you working on your replicants! A few of you are missing from the photo but hopefully I'll be able to post your work in a later video. I had so much fun painting with you!
