I have been focused on filling up my DIY Art Journal (made from cereal boxes) these last few weeks. It's quite a challenge as it's dimensions are a super awkward 7" x 28" long - yikes! But the city skyline of Inverness was the perfect horizontal backdrop for this spread today. I made the buildings (from my reference photo I had take a few weeks ago when I was there) out of vintage ephemera I had collected from artsy pals while I was traveling there (so really this whole entire page is filled with meaning for me in so many ways). After I collage the buildings and doodle in some details I felt strongly that I needed to cloud over it, as it represents what happens to our memories of such magnificent places. So that all that's left is an impression, while our memories and thoughts cover over them. I love this page so much and I hope you do too! I teach a very similar project (except we use a double record album cover) in my Mixing the Media class (in Real Time) at AwesomeArtSchool.com. If you're interested in finding out more information, please click on the active link below. In that class we also learn how to make altered books, art journals and many many cool mixed media projects. I'd love to see you in my classroom!
