This performance of "Light A Candle For Peace" was the world premier of its arrangement for orchestra, chorus, and soloists. The orchestration was made by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Professor Emeritus of Bands, Dr. William Johnson. We are grateful to composer Shelley Murley for granting permission to make this beautiful arrangement that celebrates young student performers. This performance features a combined chorus of students from Los Osos Middle School, Atascadero High School, Morro Bay High School, and San Luis Obispo High School, prepared by Holly Banfield. Soloists Kaia Ferreira and Zachary Young are accompanied by the Opera San Luis Obispo Grand Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Brian Asher Alhadeff (Artistic and General Director). This performance took place in Harold Miossi Hall at Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo, on May 11, 2019, illustrating Opera San Luis Obispo's commitment to education, our strong partnership with the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, and its "Arts Collaborative" enabling students to learn and grow their skill set by working alongside professionals from all over the county at the Performing Arts Center.
