We explore it at midday, surrounded by the real atmosphere of tourists, guides, and vendors, exactly as it feels today. We finish at the Arch of Constantine (315 AD), built to celebrate the emperor’s victory at the Milvian Bridge and decorated with reliefs reused from earlier monuments. In just a few steps we see three different moments of Rome: Nero’s luxury, the public spectacle of the Empire, and the propaganda of Constantine’s era.
