A selection of clips of the unique 1900s Electric Autocar; originally built by the North Eastern Railway at York, in 1903, and recorded during the Great Central Railway's 2023 Last Hurrah Gala. The 1903 Electric Autocar, was originally powered by an electric motor, which ran on a petrol engine - in fact the first use of the internal combustion engine for a passenger vehicle. The original Autocar was decommissioned in 1931. While its original body was rescued in 2003, it took 7 years and significant fundraising to restore the Autocar to life; now converted to diesel-electric power. It returned to service on heritage railways in 2018, and remains part of the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway fleet, in Yorkshire. Filmed at Kinchley Lane; Swithland sidings, and Loughborough, Quorn & Woodhouse and Rothley stations; Leicestershire, UK. Also featuring a cameo by British Railways Standard Class 5 Steam locomotive, No. 73156. Recorded on 18th November 2023. RTP Media 2026.
