Latrell Sprewell cools off Vince Carter in Toronto's first playoffs game ever. Spree does an excellent job at reading off-ball screens and fighting for position making it hard for Carter to just get the damn ball. Some people will point out that Carter's shot selection is absolutely horrible during this game, but just notice how hard Vince actually has to work to get the ball. I think such defense frustrated him and made him a bit too anxious, hence the quick and unprepared jumpers. The times he lost Spree, Latrell did a great job of trailing the play and chasing Carter into the Knicks big guys. These Van Gundy's Knicks played very good team defense, so credit is due to the whole team, however, it says something that Carter didn't make a single field goal while Spree was on him. The intentional foul at the end of the game is probably the only time he messed up on defense. Latrell had 21 points and 4 assists, to boot. April 23, 2000.
